European Pork

The Art of European Pork is the Belgian Meat Office’s campaign for certified European pork from Belgium. The office was founded in 2003 under Flanders’ Agricultural Marketing Board (VLAM), and the campaign is funded by the European Union. Nerb took over the website at the turn of 2024, rebuilt it and has since added Chinese and Korean versions.

The previous developer’s service ended in 2023, so the site first had to move to new hosting without going offline. The old build was hard to take over and slow to change, so Nerb proposed a rebuild with four goals: work well on phones, lead the homepage with video, use accurate images, and be easy for the client’s SEO team to take over.

Structure. The menu follows the sitemap the client set: About European Pork, with Who We Are, Our Offer and Belgian Meat Suppliers, then Publications, News and Events, Contact and a language switch.

Design. Nerb designed the new site, with a video near the top of the homepage. The homepage and Our Offer layouts were ready for review within a week of the go-ahead, and every page layout three weeks later.

Build. The site runs on WordPress with Elementor. In the supplier directory each group of suppliers opens a panel of member logos, and each logo leads to a profile with the supplier’s description, contact details and VAT number, taken from the client’s supplier guide. Publications offers the catalogue, advertorials and press releases as PDF downloads. The contact form asks for the port of entry and the type of meat, so the office can match each buyer with a supplier.

Languages and running. The English site went live in 2024, followed by the Chinese pages and, in 2025, a Korean version, each from translations the client supplied. Nerb hosts and maintains the site and updates it in all three languages, from trade events and export figures to the yearly exporters’ guide.
